South Africa-based Dorper Wind Farm has chosen the Breeze system for wind farm management. This marks the first wind farm on the African continent to be installed in Breeze.
Dorper Wind Farm (RF) Pty Ltd was selected as a preferred bidder under round 1 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). Dorper Wind Farm is a partnership between Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation and Rainmaker Energy, a South African developer. The wind farm has 40 Nordex 2.5MW turbines with a total capacity of 100MW, making it one of South Africa’s first large-scale wind farms.
“With the work of development and construction behind us, it is now time to maximize performance of our wind farm with Breeze. Every kWh generated these days is important to meet the daily power demand of South Africa,” said Denys Rothero, General Manager of Dorper Wind Farm.
“The entire Breeze team is excited to welcome Dorper Wind Farm to the Breeze service. Dorper Wind Farm is a leader and positive example for future wind development in Africa. This is further proof that Breeze is an attractive system around the globe,” said Jonas Corné, CEO of Breeze.
Breeze is a modern user-friendly wind farm management system. With over 125 wind farms in 11 countries to date, Breeze is at the forefront of bringing state of the art, cloud-based software to the wind industry to increase energy production.
